Drivers Under the Influence

Unfortunately, despite the strong force against drunk driving, many people still decide to get behind the wheel while impaired. In 2022, 13,524 people died in alcohol-impaired driving traffic deaths.

(Source: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) This continues to be a leading cause of car accidents and many times leads to fatal injuries.

Drowsy Drivers

Drowsy drivers could potentially be as lethal as drunk drivers. This leading cause of car accidents can also be avoided. Even though it is difficult to exactly measure the accidents caused by drowsy drivers, In 2021 some 684 people were killed in crashes involving a drowsy driver, representing 1.6% of all motor vehicle traffic crash fatalities (Stewart, 2023). Drowsy driving was reportedly involved in 1.8% of fatal crashes from 2017 to 2021 (NHTSA, 2023).

Distracted Driving

Every day drivers continue to be tempted by a growing amount of distractions while driving. Whether it is distractions from passengers, electronic devices, or other activities, these behaviors can lead to car accidents. “Texting is the most alarming distraction. Sending or reading a text takes your eyes off the road for 5 seconds. At 55 mph, that’s like driving the length of an entire football field with your eyes closed.”

Aggressive Driving

Our South Florida traffic can many times frustrate drivers and we continue to see road rage related car accidents. An aggressive driver can potentially drive recklessly and at a higher speed, which leads to accidents. 66% of traffic fatalities are caused by aggressive driving.
